Marshfield Farm Ice Cream has won gold in the annual Taste of the West Awards for its new salted caramel ice cream.

Judges in the ice cream and sorbet category commented on the ice cream’s “excellent flavour”, describing it as “very well balanced and moreish”.

The ice cream, available at restaurants and scooping sites across the country, blends smooth salted caramel ice cream with a salted caramel ripple and a smattering of butterscotch pieces.

As with all 24 Marshfield ice creams, it is 60% pure organic milk from the 1,000-acre farm’s herd of 200 Friesian cows.

Owners Will and Dawn Hawking said: “Our salted caramel ice cream has been proving a massive hit since we launched it earlier this year and it’s wonderful to get recognition from Taste of the West too.

“Salted caramel works brilliantly as an ice cream flavour – and with super-fresh organic milk from our own cows, all-natural ingredients, plus our dedication to traditional methods of ice cream making, we believe our ice creams are of unrivalled quality. It’s extremely gratifying to be recognised in this way.”

Other new flavours launched this year are Candy Floss Crush, Luscious Lemon and Blueberry FroYo.

Marshfield Ice Cream is sold in cafés, farm shops and delis across the country as well as prestigious tourist spots including The Tower of London, Stonehenge and Bristol Zoo.
