Wiltshire Council’s new building in Trowbridge has been officially opened with an event that included a rhythmic gymnastic display and a celebration of the 2012 Olympics.
The event was sponsored by Elm Workspace, which carried out the space planning design, refurbishment and furniture fit-out this summer.
Elm Workspace provided supplied furniture including soft seating, restaurant chairs, tables, office workstations, storage, chairs and benching for the project.
The launch was attended by more than 200 business people and public sector officials, who had the chance to meet members of the Team GB Olympic squad, including gold medal sprint canoe winner Ed McKeever and Parlympic swimmer, silver medalist Aaron Moores, and also Olympic torchbearers from around Wiltshire. The rhythmic gymnastic display was by Francesca Fox.
The guests of honour were Baroness Hanham, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government, and Wiltshire Council chief executive Jane Scott.
Daren Spencer, managing director of Calne-based Elm, who attended the event with operations director Ian Powell and several Elm team members, said: “It was a pleasure to attend the launch event, and of course great for us to see the building fully occupied with council staff and members of the public.
“The project was a huge success and we are looking forward to working with Wiltshire Council in the future.”
Building contractor Kier and WSP Mechanical and Electrical Systems, which supplied the building’s lighting, heating and cooling, and fire alarms, also sponsored the launch.
