The latest developments in employment relations will come under the spotlight at a major conference for West businesses staged by Acas, Britain’s top employment relations service.
The event, called The Changing Face of Employment Relations, will tackle the issues that every company needs to be aware of including, how to make flexible working work for employers as well as employees, how to build staff engagement and motivation even with a limited budget, and managing the impact of social media on workplaces.
The conference takes place in Bridgwater on March 7.
These attending will:
- Get practical advice. Hear from award-winning local employers on how they’ve revolutionised their business performance through their HR strategies. Theory is great, but this gives delegates the chance to see what really works in practice
- Hear expert speakers. Learn about the major changes from the people who really know as we hear about tribunal changes (including the introduction of fees) from Jonathan Parkin, head employment law judge for the South West, and get an employment law update from leading barrister Jennifer Eady QC.
They will be joined by Norma Pearce, HR director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, at Royal Wootton Bassett-based Plantronics, who will talk about her experiences of introducing an award-winning flexible working initiative which has resulted in significant improvements in staff engagement levels and productivity while reducing staff absences and turnover.
Delegates will also hear from William Rogers, CEO of Cornwall-based UKRD Group, who will speak about staff engagement strategies and how they can revolutionise business performance. Last year the Sunday Times’ named UKRD as best mid-sized company to work for, repeating its success of 2011, and William was named best leader.
