Two leading mobile technology businesses have come together to create one of the UK’s largest firms in their fast-growing market.

Mobile software firm M-Netics, which makes software that helps retailers and logistics businesses streamline their supply chains, has been acquired by the UK arm of US group Peak-Ryzex. Both firms are based on Chippenham’s Bumpers Farm business park.

M-Netics’ customers include leading logistics providers, manufacturers, retailers and field service organisations. Its software links to technology such as hand-held barcode scanners to help improve in-store and back office, supply chain, mobile worker and proof of delivery functions.

It has close partnerships with leading wireless technology companies including Motorola, Zebra, IBM and ALK.

The firm, which has more than 15,000 users running its applications, will now operate as a subsidiary of Peak-Ryzex, which is owned by Keystone Capital, a private investment firm based in Chicago.

Peak-Ryzex will leverage M-Netics software to expand its customer offering including mobile applications for the operations of multi-channel retailers.

M-Netics founder and CEO Tim Hamilton-Davies, who launched the business in 2004, said: “After carefully considering all of our options for accelerating the growth of M-Netics, I am extremely excited for us to join forces with Peak-Ryzex and be part of one of the largest, most dynamic international mobile solutions providers in the market today.

“The combination with Peak-Ryzex provides our business with additional scale and immediate access to supplementary resources in the UK and North America to offer our customers enhanced levels of value, support and service.”

Peak-Ryzex CEO Ross Young added: “The acquisition of M-Netics is aligned with our strategy to continue offering customers the most complete end-to-end enterprise mobility solutions portfolio in the industry.

“M-Netics will bring complementary products, partnerships and services to our portfolio while allowing us to expand our capabilities into mobile software application development and strengthen our offerings in specific verticals such as retail.”

Together, Peak-Ryzex and M-Netics will provide the full lifecycle services to plan, procure, provision, activate, manage and support commercial and rugged mobile devices, carrier services, and mobile software applications while delivering business data and insights to improve operational efficiencies, and increase employee productivity in the supply chain, out in the field workforce or on the retail floor.

Bristol-headquartered law firm TLT advised the management team at M-Netics on its sale to Peak-Ryzex.

TLT corporate partner Andrew Webber, pictured, who led its team, said: “We’re delighted to have worked with the management team at M-Netics on this strategic deal. It highlights the strength in the sector of their existing offering and will create important growth opportunities for the business in the UK and North America markets, enabling the team to play an important part in the continued growth of the merged group.”

Financial details of the deal have disclosed.
