Bath-based financial services management consultancy Altus Consulting has boosted its support for West of England sporting initiatives by striking up a partnership with Bristol Bears Women’s Rugby.
The firm, which employs around 120 people in Bath, has long supported local football, golf and cricket clubs, as well as backing the Bath-based Great Britain Bobsleigh team.
With a strong community of rugby fans, Altus has now extended its support to women’s rugby for the first time.
The move, which includes support for up-and-coming Bristol Bears Women’s first team player Meg Varley, pictured, has come as Premiership Women’s Rugby’s (PWR) popularity and success continues to grow and ahead of next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup, in which Bristol is a host city.
Altus Consulting CEO Martyn Evans said: “Women’s rugby is going from strength to strength, and we are very keen to support its development, we recognise its importance not only to the sporting world but also in society more widely.
“We have a very strong connection to our community and are delighted to support Meg.
As well as being an outstanding player, Meg works full-time for the Bristol Bears Community Foundation, spending her days teaching and mentoring children in local schools and helping them develop vital life skills.
“This aligns closely with the volunteer work we already undertake with the charity RedSTART, where we help to deliver financial education to primary-school children,” added Martyn.
“We are also keen to work as a partner to engage with players to increase awareness and understanding of the financial services industry, to support their own financial planning”
Bristol Bears Women general manager Daisie Mayes described Altus Consulting’s sponsorship as being a fantastic opportunity and hugely beneficial for the team.
“Women's Rugby is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world and Altus Consulting's sponsorship of an exciting player such as Meg Varley shows their support of women’s sports ahead of the Women's Rugby World Cup next year.”
Altus Consulting said its sponsorship and involvement in women’s rugby reflected its passion for making a positive social impact, which was not just through its day-to-day work in improving financial services, but also more directly by supporting charities, initiatives and sports teams that share the same goal.
Founded in Bath in 2005 with the belief that financial services should be more accessible, more efficient and more equitable, Altus was acquired by Canadian software company Equisoft in 2021.
