Bath-headquartered law firm Royds Withy King has appointed Amish Patel as an associate solicitor in its private client team.
Amish, pictured, has specialised in a broad range of private client work since qualifying as a solicitor just over four years ago.
Based in Royds Withy King’s London office, he advises on Wills and trusts, Powers Of Attorney, applications for deputyship and the administration of multi-jurisdictional trusts and estates.
He is familiar with international mental capacity matters and works with a number of foreign lawyers in this area.
He also provides clients with bespoke capital tax planning and inheritance tax planning with a particular interest in supporting high net worth individuals.
He has acted as lead in the administration of many multi-million-pound estates and advised on complicated trust structures in relation to new tax legislation. A career highlight was successfully challenging another firm of solicitors in its interpretation of tax law, which resulted in a shift of £500,000 of inheritance tax away from his client and four other charitable beneficiaries. He is an affiliate member of the global professional body STEP.
He joins from the London office of Stone King, also headquartered in Bath, where he spent just over four years. Prior to that he trained at Ipswich firm Ross Coates.
