Bath City FC and Bath Ales kick off a new partnership tomorrow which encompasses sponsorship, beer supply and charitable giving.
Bath Ales has teamed up with the community-owned club to be its official supplier of beers, including its flagship ale Gem, as well as providing Carlsberg lager and Thatchers cider to the bars at its Twerton Park ground.
The first pints will be poured at tomorrow’s Vanarama National League South home match tomorrow against Welling United – a match to which Bath City is also inviting fans of other clubs for the special price of £8, reduced from £13.
The international break this weekend means Bristol City are not playing while Bristol Rovers are away earlier in the day to Bradford City.
Season ticket holders of both teams are invited to watch Bath City for £8. The offer also extends to Bath Rugby season ticket holders – meaning they can watch Bath City before heading to Leicester on Sunday for the first fixture of the Aviva Premiership.
Bath City’s partnership with Bath Ales, which brews its beers at Warmley between Bath and Bristol, will also include an extensive sponsorship package taking in a pitch-side hoarding, match day programme and match and ball sponsorships.
And in keeping with Bath City’s new community ownership, Bath Ales will donate 5p to charity for every pint of Gem and Carlsberg sold at the club.
Bath City general manager Carole Banwell said: “We’re thrilled to embark on this new relationship with such a popular local brand. Since the community takeover we’ve been steadily enhancing our food and drink offering, and we can’t think of a better way of taking the next step than working with Bath Ales.
“We’re also delighted that they’ve come up with the idea of giving to charity and will be consulting with our supporters about how they’d like that to be allocated.”
Bath Ales regional sales manager Lee Jasper added: “We’re delighted about this new deal with Bath City FC. With its roots firmly in the local area, this is an example of Bath Ales’ continued support for sport in the community.
“We’re taking our commitment a step further by agreeing to donate to fans’ preferred local charities when pints of Gem and Carlsberg are bought at the club’s bars; here’s to a great season.”
Earlier this year Bath City’s Supporters Society triumphed in its two-year battle to become The Romans’ majority shareholder and transform it into a community-owned club, after beating its goal of raising £300,000 through its Big Bath City Bid campaign, which was backed by many firms across the city.
