Independent brewery Bath Ales has reintroduced its popular seasonal light ale Golden Hare on draught as spring approaches.
The brewery – based between Bath and Bristol at Warmley – describes the beer as having ‘fresh and zesty flavours’ to coincide with the lighter evenings. It said sales of Golden Hare were very strong last year.
It is one of a number of seasonal brews produced by Bath Ales to reflect the flavours of the season.
Brewed using floor-malted Maris Otter barley and Goldings hops, Golden Hare is sunshine gold in colour, with a taste, according to the brewery, that is reminiscent of a spring day.
Bath Ales sales director Mark Harding said: “Last year we saw very strong sales of Golden Hare so we’re hoping for a repeat performance this year. Our core focus is, and will always remain, on producing high-quality, flavoursome ale.
“Many of our customers look forward to seeing Golden Hare back in our venues as it signals the end of the long winter season. As it’s so popular, we keep Golden Hare available in bottle format all year but there’s something special about seeing it back at the pumps.
“It’s one of our most well-received seasonal ales, and considered a favourite with those who enjoy a lighter, more refreshing ale.
“After just a week back in the pubs, Golden Hare has already made a good impression on visitors so I don’t expect it will hang around for long.”
Golden Hare (4.4% Vol) is available in all 11 Bath Ales’ outlets including The Hop Pole and The Salamander in Bath as well as the Graze restaurant next to Bath Spa railway station.
The Hop Pole, on Upper Bristol Road, has recently reopened with a new look and additional seating in readiness for a rise in visitors from a new nearby housing development.
Located just behind the venue, the estate adds 2,000 more homes to the area potentially increasing footfall to the pub, which is one of the closest to the new development.
Described as a country pub in the heart of the city, the new design features reinforces The Hop Pole’s rural image with wooden logs, traditional tables and chairs and tartan print bunting.
The Bath Ales range of beers includes its flagship Gem bitter, Barnsey, Dark Side, Wild Hare, Special Pale Ale and Ginger Hare.
