A design team led by Bath landscape architects Grant Associates has been shortlisted for a major contract in Singapore.
The team is one of five in the running to develop an overall concept master plan for the city’s 24km-long Rail Corridor.
Grant Associates teamed up with Dutch architects MVRDV and Singapore-based Architects 61 to bid for the Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore contract for the second stage of the Rail Corridor. A total of 64 teams from around the world submitted proposals.
The Rail Corridor is a unique 24km-long ‘green corridor’ spanning north to south Singapore, connecting homes, work places, schools and public areas. The city is keen to build on the its heritage to create an extraordinary cross-island green artery and an outstanding and inclusive public space for all Singaporeans.
The shortlisted design teams will now develop the overall concept masterplan and concept proposals for the Rail Corridor, culminating in a public exhibition in October and November, when the winning team will be announced.
The successful team will then be invited to develop a preliminary design and feasibility study for a signature 4km stretch of the Rail Corridor.
Grant Associates has recently expanded its office in Singapore to meet growing demand for its services across Asia and Australia, including work on Singapore’s dramatic £500m Gardens by the Bay project.
