This year’s Bath Boules is set to surpass all previous years with more sponsors, partners and prizes than ever before.

Regarded as Bath’s unofficial summer party, the much-loved event this year is staged this weekend, starting tomorrow. As previously, it will be free to attend – whether residents, businesses, visitors, adults or children.

Organiser Stephanie Dodd said: “So many businesses and organisations in the city have backed the Bath Boules – it’s just incredible. When Bath comes together like this, truly brilliant things can happen.

“We are determined to make this the best party Bath has ever had.”

Bath Boules has raised more than £300,000 for local charities since it began. Beneficiaries have included Dorothy House, Julian House and Off The Record.

Last year it netted nearly £41,500 and this year organisers aim to beat this figure with a record-breaking fundraising achievement.

Sponsored once more by Bath-headquartered regional law firm Royds Withy King, it takes place in Queen Square from 9am on Friday June 9 until late on Sunday June 11.

Attractions will include a street food market, an enhanced marquee with boules bar, Pimms and champagne garden area, BBQ, face painting, more than 50 raffle prizes, kids’ games and activities – plus surprises suh as an idiosyncratic Bath Boules mascot sponsored by city-based sex toy retailer Lovehoney.

Two sides of Queen Square will be closed for the street food market which will features stands from Bubbles & Brew, Los Churros Amigos, The Three Daggers, Voodoo Q, The French Kitchen, Yeo Valley Ice-cream, The Nosh Box, Ole Tapas, Mint Room, Plenty Hospitality, Claud the Butler, Honey’s Medford Cider, Tandoori, Fire & Brew, Didi’s Cakes, The Francis Hotel and The Juice Collective.

More than 300 companies and organisations are involved this year with 192 teams playing over the three days, including on Le Bunk Off Friday – Bath’s unofficial bank holiday.

The free Friday night party tomorrow is sponsored by Bath-based wealth management company Novia. Other sponsors include Epoch Wealth Management, Apex Hotels, Investec Wealth & Investment, Homelets, Hall & Woodhouse, Bath Life, Redwood Marketing, Champagne Jacquart, Great Western Wine, Dick Lovett, Bath & North East Somerset Council, Enlightened Lighting and Archers Marquees. There are also 33 Little Boules sponsors.

The Boules weekend will get off to an early start as the Creative Bath Awards and Summer Party in the Square take place on this evening.
