Go Green, a business initiative to drive sustainability in the workplace, has been launched in Bath after its success in Bristol as part of its year as European Green Capital.
A collaboration between business leadership organisations Business West and Low Carbon South West, it signposts organisations to resources that can help them be greener.
It was extended into Bath this week with an official launch at Bath Abbey as part of a wider roll-out programme across the West of England to encourage more businesses to improve their green credentials.
Attendees at the launch event also heard from Bath Abbey and city engineering firm BuroHappold on their project to boost the historic building’s environmental sustainability, including energy efficient lighting and the installation of an innovative new underfloor heating system fuelled by the ancient hot springs running beneath the city.
Go Green manager Amy Nicholass said: “Bristol’s year as European Green Capital was a great achievement and we want to involve everyone across the West of England to create a lasting legacy. Already more than 1,200 businesses have signed up to Go Green, including some in Bath and we hope to welcome more soon.”
Go Green is a tool open to every business, charity and public sector organisation which wants to make a difference to its environment. For more information or to sign up to the programme click here
