Bath charities urged to think ahead to Christmas and apply for free market stall

It may still be seven months away but Bath Tourism Plus is calling on local good causes to apply to run the charity stall at this year’s Bath Christmas Market.

One of the chalet-style stalls is offered, free of charge, to a different charity each day, giving them the chance to benefit from the generosity of the thousands of shoppers this popular event brings to the city.

Bath Tourism Plus chief executive Nick Brooks-Sykes said: “Bath is an extremely popular Christmas shopping destination, attracting people from all over the region and the UK. To be in the position to be able to offer a prime site in the city centre to 18 worthwhile causes, at a time of year synonymous with giving, is just wonderful.”

Charities benefitting from the stall last year included Bath Mind, Time2Share, The Rotary Club of Bath and Bath City Farm.

Event organiser Charlotte Buckley said: “We get really positive feedback from those who take up the opportunity. We just want to ensure that all local charities, no matter how large or small, are aware of this potentially very positive addition to their planned activities.”

Any interested charity should contact Bath Tourism Plus on Christmas_market@bathtourism.co.uk or phone 01225 322429. They will put on a list from which the 18 successful applicants are chosen at random. Successful applicants will be notified in the summer.  For more go to  www.bathchristmasmarket.co.uk.
