Bath commercial property firm HPH has named Bath City Farm as its new charity of the year and will provide practical help through professional advice and expertise as well as taking part in fundraising activities.
The farm in Whiteway has grown significantly since it started in 1990 and is now home to 100 animals that are looked after by 12 staff and more than 50 volunteers.
It delivers 15 projects based on horticulture, animal care and cookery supporting disadvantaged and disabled people to develop new skills and confidence.
It also works to boost emotional, mental, physical and social wellbeing as well as inspiring environmental awareness and activity. Last year the 37-acre farm welcomed almost 25,000 visitors.
HPH managing director Lindsay Holdoway, pictured with city farm staff, said: “Bath City Farm is a very important local community charity that supports people to develop new skills and passions.
“The organisation helps people of all ages through a wide range of community events and HPH Commercial Property is pleased to be offering support and advice over the next 12 months.
“We look forward to working closely with the team at the farm and learning more about the work they do.”
Bath City Farm general manager Helen Fisher added: “We are really honored to have been selected as charity of the year by HPH.
“As a small local charity we rely on the support of people and businesses in the community to keep our work going with some of the most disadvantaged people in Bath and north east Somerset, offering them a safe space to thrive and grow.
“We help to change the lives of nearly 700 people a year with complex health needs and welcome over 20,000 visitors a year to enjoy our fantastic site for free. We are only able to do this through generous donors and supporters like HPH. This award will make a true difference to the people using the farm – and of course the lovely animals.”
Last year HPH supported Dorothy House Hospice Care as its annual charity, donating more than £5,000.
