The vital issues affecting Bath’s economy – from Brexit to rail electrification – will come under the spotlight at a major event in the city next week.

Taking place the day before Thursday’s General Election, the annual Bath Economic Question Time will have extra relevance this year, with highly-acclaimed economist and public speaker Mark Berrisford-Smith reading the national and international economic runes as the campaign enters its final day.

The breakfast event, hosted once again by Bath law firm Royds Withy King, HSBC Bank and accountants Bishop Fleming, takes place at Bath Racecourse.

Following the presentation by Mr Berrisford-Smith, head of economics at UK Commercial Banking at HSBC, a panel of local business chiefs will discuss economic issues affecting Bath based on questions from the floor.

On the panel will be the CEO of Bath-based financial advice firm Fidelius Jim Grant, Dan Fallon, managing director of Bath digital media agency SearchStar, Louise Prynne, chief executive of the Bath Business Improvement District (BID), Ian Taylor, owner of Bath’s Abbey Hotel and No15, and Bath Business News editor Robert Buckland.

The event will be chaired by Royds Withy King partner Chris Kane, pictured.

Royds Withy King, Bath’s largest law firm, has two offices in the city. Bishop Fleming runs Bath’s largest accountancy office.
