Firms are being invited to enter teams for this year’s Brain of Bath Quiz to help end rough sleeping in the city.

Up to 24 corporate teams of 10 will go head to head at the event, staged by Julian House, Bath’s main homeless charity, to raise much-needed awareness and funds to help vulnerable men and women suffering from homelessness.

Now in its 21st year, the quiz has become a key date in the city’s business calendar and a fun-yet-competitive way to entertain clients and reward staff. Over its two decades it has raised more than £200,000.

This year it takes place in Bath’s beautiful Assembly Rooms on July 2. Quizzers’ knowledge will be put to the test with a range of topical and special rounds including music and pictures as well as the famous smells round.

Teams will try to snatch the coveted trophy from last year’s winner architectural firm Feilden Clegg Bradley, who pipped former victors law firm Thrings to the winning spot with just two points.

Julian House fundraising manager Cathy Adcock, who compèred the evening, said: “It is always a popular fixture in the Julian House calendar. The atmosphere is terrific and although by its very nature it is competitive, it’s competitive in the right way. The banter is fantastic, and participants get to show off their individual snippets of knowledge.”

Julian House events organiser Jessica Gay added: “By attending the event you’re helping us support some of the most vulnerable men and women in society. Without support like ours, the life expectancy of a long-term homeless person is just 45 years. But by attending, you can help change that.”

Julian House works to directly help those most marginalised in society and operates more than 40 projects across the South West from social enterprises to supporting those with learning difficulties. Its work helps change the lives of some of society’s most vulnerable people.

Entry is now open and tables can be bought here, with early booking recommended. The entry fee also includes a light supper from caters Searcys. For smaller companies, there is the opportunity to book half a table and join another team.
