Members of Bath’s business community have heard how they can support the Bath Half Marathon, the city’s biggest annual fundraising event.

More than 40 businesses attended a networking breakfast organised by the Half Marathon team in the Pump Room to find out more about the opportunities linked to the race.

Many firms use the event, organised by Bath-based Running High Events, to raise funds for their chosen charities and for teambuilding.

Now in its 36th year, The Bath Half Marathon has become well established as one of the city’s biggest annual events, attracting 15,000 runners and an estimated 30,000 spectators.

The 2017 event raised a record sum of £2.25m for charity.

Race director Andrew Taylor told the gathering: “We have a large number of diverse companies and organisations with runners taking part in the race each year.

“We wanted to take the opportunity to meet some of these businesses that take part in the corporate challenge and also let others know how they can get involved in the future.”

Marc Cuddihy, a financial planner with Bath financial consultants Beckford James, added: “As someone who has run the Bath Half Marathon many times, I am always very impressed with the organisation of the race and I also commend Andrew Taylor and his team for the great work they do supporting so many charities.

“Over the years an incredible amount of money has been raised which helps charities make a difference. The presentation event by Andrew Taylor gave us even more of an insight into the great work that the Bath Half Marathon does.”

Mr Cuddihy also chairs the Martin Roberts Foundation, the organisation set up recently by TV presenter Martin Roberts to deliver child wellbeing and education initiatives. Mr Roberts also attended the breakfast event.

This year’s Bath Half Marathon takes place on Sunday March 4.
