Tesco’s former financial controller Richard Haley is to join Bath-based media group Future as its chief financial officer and company secretary.
Mr Haley, pictured, who takes up his new role on October 1, is currently finance director for Tesco Extras UK.
The announcement of his appointment comes as Future, best known for its computer gaming magazines and websites along with titles such as Total Film, continues a major restructuring of its business to slash costs.
In May it announced around 130 staff working on most of its sport and craft print and digital publications are to transfer to Bristol-based rival publisher Immediate.
Future chief executive Zillah Byng-Maddick said of Mr Haley’s appointment: “Richard brings a wealth of experience within the retail sector and is of enormous value to us as we continue with the transformation plans already announced.”
A number of other senior appointments have been made by Future.
Jeff Turner joins as commercial director for advertising having previously worked for KGB Deals and the Telegraph Media Group, where he led its digital sales team. Jeff will oversee the advertising sales revenue streams and commercial content creation.
Emma Harvey has been appointed to the role of product and technology director responsible for Future’s strategy and execution of IT architecture, product management across all of Future’s channels and the Development and UX teams. Emma joins Future with both venture capital-backed start-up experience and classical training from almost 10 years in telecommunications.
Both appointments are with immediate effect.
