Bath-based magazine publisher Future is this month boosting its portfolio of digital and hard copy photography titles with the launch of the Tablet-only Photography Week.
The international photography magazine will be available on the iPad and, according to Future, will be packed with rich, interactive content that shows readers how to improve their images and get more from their cameras.
Future’s stable of photography magazines are enjoy popular on the Apple Newsstand, the company claims. Digital Camera World is the best-selling digital photography magazine for iPad. With the Canon-only title PhotoPlus, and recent launches N-Photo: The Nikon Magazine and Practical Photoshop, Future’s four iPad edition photography titles have had more than 1.3m container app downloads.
Future said Photography Week has been specifically built for the iPad by the team behind Digital Camera World, using Future’s digital publishing software, Future Folio. This will enable Photography Week to have the kind of interactivity and functionality not yet seen in any weekly photography title, according to Future.
Matthew Pierce, group publisher for Future’s Creative portfolio, said: “Photography Week is a major digital launch from Future, and a completely new kind of photography magazine. “Future’s existing photography portfolio is already enjoying great success on the iPad, but a weekly digital title in this sector is a logical next step for us.
“Every issue will be packed with tips, advice, videos, reviews, the world’s best photography, and loads of ways for readers to get involved. It will be fun to read, simple to navigate, and use Apple’s amazing Tablet to best effect.”
A full free debut issue of Photography Week will be available for download from the AppStore in mid-September.
Future sells 2.2m magazines a month and has amore than 40m monthly unique visitors to its websites.
More than 100 digital editions and bespoke apps are now available on Tablet.
