Former Bath Business Improvement District (BID) director Les Redwood has returned to the city to become head of business development at Bath Tourism Plus, the body responsible for marketing the city.

Les, pictured, who is also a former chairman of The Bath Independent Guest Houses Association, has spent the past six months working in a commercial management role at The University of West of England (UWE) in Bristol.

As a founding director of the BID he set out the objectives of improving trading conditions for the city centre's businesses.

Shortly after the BID was voted in 2011, he became its project manager and helped delivered some of its notable successes, such as the Bath in Fashion festival, the Great Bath Feast and the award-winning BID trade waste and recycling scheme.

After the BID was voted in for a second term last October, Les was offered a role at UWE but leapt at the chance to come back ‘home’ and work at Bath Tourism Plus.

He said: “I am ecstatic to be returning to my home town, a city that I love to live and work in, where we have achieved so much change for the better in recent years.

“I am really excited to be embracing a new challenge working with many of my old friends and colleagues around the city and  I look  forward to marketing and promoting the city regionally, nationally and internationally for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors alike.”
