Two of the leading women in Bath’s business community have given insights into their career journeys and how they use their skills to champion local business at the city’s second Women in Leadership conference.
Bath Business Improvement District (BID) chief executive Louise Prynne and Louise Fradd, Bath & North East Somerset Council (B&NES) strategic director of place and BID board director, pictured, spoke to around 150 delegates at last Saturday’s event aimed at helping female students feel empowered and take the lead in business. 
The Bath University Students’ Union event also included a keynote speech from Paralympic athlete and sports reporter Kate Grey as well as a range of workshops.
Louise Prynne and Louise Fradd’s joint presentation was entitled Place Making: Women in Leadership in Bath – The Power of Collaboration.
Louise Prynne said: “As an alumna of the university it has been a privilege to return to speak at this event.
“The joint presentation has hopefully inspired students and reminded them that women have an important role to play in business and city management, and are indeed central to driving progress and success. I’m keen to strengthen the ties between the BID, university and B&NES council, and our joint presentation was a great way to start.”
Louise Fradd added: “I was delighted to speak at the Women in Leadership conference about my experiences of working in senior management in local government. I have worked with many strong and successful women throughout my career and I enjoyed sharing some stories to give inspiration to the next generation of female leaders.”
Other workshops covered a range of subjects from confident communication to networking with purpose, gender representation in the UK Parliament, and top tips on how to set up a business venture.
