Entries opened today for the SPARKies awards, aimed at celebrating the very best of the region’s tech and digital sector.
The SPARKies awards are run as part of Bath Digital Festival and are open to companies and individuals based in the city as well as Somerset and Wiltshire.
The awards were launched last year by David Maher Roberts who said: “I am thrilled that we are able to return for a second year – the first event really drew attention to some of the fantastic work that is being carried out in the digital sector.
“This year we’re opening the awards out to include a wider area so the competition will be tougher and we’ll be showcasing fantastic work from across the region. Companies from across Wiltshire and Somerset, including Bath, Bristol and Swindon, are encouraged to nominate themselves through the SPARKies website.”
The SPARKies 2013 awards ceremony will take place on March 20 at Komedia in Bath, compered by award-winning comedian Jarred Christmas.
The awards include categories for achievements in design, app development, entrepreneurship and global business. They also recognise those who are using their skills in a philanthropic manner, to mentor others or do good for the community.
More than 20 experts from across the sector make up The SPARKies judging panel, including Huffington Post contributor and serial entrepreneur Margaret Heffernan, CEO of Bristol and Bath Science Park Bonnie Dean, chief operating officer for Real World studios Mike Large, and head of digital at animators Aardman, Lorna Probert.
