Bath Digital Festival is to return for a second year after the success of 2012’s inaugural event.
The festival attracted more than 3,000 people to 30 events over 10 days last year, including an internationally acclaimed X Media Lab conference, kids coding clubs, hack events and a digital awards ceremony.
This year’s festival will again bring together exciting events that will allow members of the public to explore Bath’s thriving digital scene and to get involved in a variety of interesting projects.
Bath has a fast-growing digital sector combining leading research at the University of Bath and Bath Spa University with cutting-edge digital enterprises that have made city their home.
Bath Digital Festival 2013, which will run from March 14 to 24, is set to be even better according to creative director David Kelly.
“We’re looking to get more of the general public involved in the festival this year,” he said.
“Bath has a really active digital community and we want to show people all the exciting things that are coming out of our city.
“In the last nine months we’ve seen the launch of new groups such as the Bath Girl Geeks, and a real focus on computing in education with the launch of a South West Computing at School network by the University of Bath, computing sessions for local secondary school teachers, and a code club at a Bath primary school.
“The Festival is a great opportunity to showcase all of these fantastic activities that have been putting Bath on the map over the last year. Bath is now a big deal in the digital world, and we’re looking to draw attention to that among the rest of the community.”
