Logistics group Wincanton has continued its run of winning and renewing contracts with agreements covering fuel group Valero Energy and roofing products group Marley.
The Chippenham-headquartered group, the largest UK company of its kind, has agreed terms with Valero to provide fuel distribution services for a further five years.
Wincanton will manage transportation from Valero’s UK terminals to more than 700 retail sites across the country. This will involve 200-plus deliveries a day, transporting more than 2bn litres of ground fuel each year.
Wincanton has also renewed its contract with Marley to distribute roofing products across the UK until late 2023.
This contract continues a strong working relationship between the two companies that stretches back to 2008. Wincanton will use a dedicated fleet of specialist vehicles to fulfil the contract, supported by its wider construction fleet of more than 200 mechanical off-load vehicles.
In January Wincanton secured contract renewals with three of its existing major customers – Asda, British Sugar and Lucozade Ribena Suntory – and was appointed by The Weetabix Food Company to provide transport, warehousing and packing services for its breakfast cereals.
Last month Wincanton was selected by HMRC to provide logistics services to support air and sea freight inspections. Under the five-year Wincanton will work with HMRC to check inbound shipments into the UK, operating two newly established inland pre-clearance sites.
Wincanton CEO Adrian Colman said: “We’ve been working with Valero for more than 25 years. In that time, we’ve built up a strong partnership and developed a real understanding of the needs of its customers. Extending our working relationship with Marley is validation of our expertise in servicing this business up and down the UK with complex transportation requirements.”
Wincanton provides supply chain services to brands ranging from Ikea to Britvic and Screwfix and across a wide range of industries including retail, construction, defence and energy.
It operates from 200-plus locations across the UK and Ireland totalling 7.6m sq ft of warehousing and uses around 3,600 vehicles. Its annual revenues are more than £1.1bn and it employs 17,700 people, including 4,000-plus drivers.
