Bath-based website design agency Storm Consultancy, the lead trainer at Mayden Academy and the co-founder of a fintech start-up were among the winners at the SPARKies – the awards showcasing the best of the West of England’s tech sector.
Storm Consultancy, which works with clients such as the University of Bath, media group Future and health and care group Sirona, won the Best Digital Design award. The award recognises the best web and software designs and experiences created by individuals or companies in the South West since January 2017.
The best mentor or advisor category was topped by Mike Oram of Mayden Academy, which specialises in fast-track software developer training programmes. This award recognises the individual or organisation that has gone over and above to advise and support a tech company or individual to achieve success in the South West digital and tech sector.
The FutureSPARK award went to Georgia Stewart of pioneering Bath-based fintech start-up Hedge, which has developed a sustainable savings, investing and engagement app.
The award goes to the person aged under 25 who has already demonstrated true commitment and initiative within the tech and digital community and who the judges believe will go far in the tech industry.
The SPARKies, which were staged at Bristol’s Motion nightclub, brought together more than 300 of the region’s tech and digital community to celebrate the best start-ups, designs, hardware and individuals. There were 16 categories.
The evening was hosted by comedian Jayde Adams and sponsored by Invest Bristol and Bath and the West of England Growth Hub.
This year’s awards had a record number of nominations for the 16 categories. Click here for a full list of SPARKies winners.
