The number of business start-ups in Bath reached an all-time high last year despite the slow recovery from recession, new figures show.
Some 920 new companies were formed in the BA1 and BA2 postcodes during 2013 – 11% higher than the previous year.
In a further sign of growing confidence, net company growth – the number of company formations minus the number of company closures – also rose during the year.
The upbeat figures emerge from research by Duport.co.uk, owned by leading UK company formation agent Duport Associates.

Its unique character and popularity as a tourist destination have helped it through some tough economic conditions, and I have no doubt it will continue to prosper in years to come.”
