The Bath-based health and social care team at law firm Royds Withy King has supported the owner of an independent Hampshire care home in its disposal to a regional group.

The sale of Belford House near Alton involved the transfer of shares in its owner Four Marks Ltd to Hartford Care for an undisclosed sum.

Hartford Care owns 14 homes across Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Bristol, Berkshire, Devon and the Isle of Wight.

Royds Withy King health and social care partner Hazel Phillips, pictured, advised the Four Marks’ shareholders on the sale of their shares.

Belford House, which has 31 bedrooms with en suite facilities, opened in 1993 and has been run by Four Marks since 2012. It was rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission in its last inspection.

Hazel said: “We are very pleased to have advised our client on the sale. Belford House is a successful business and we are certain the new owner will ensure that the establishment continues to flourish.

“As health and social care lawyers, we specialise in providing expert, cost-effective advice to care providers and care home operators. We are thrilled to have supported this transaction and have enjoyed working with our clients and Christie & Co, which acted as agent in the sale.”

Four Marks director Jerry Webb was delighted with the result.

He said: “Hazel and the team have been truly exceptional throughout the transaction. Their understanding of care businesses is second to none, and this along with a commitment to get the deal done was a major factor in helping us complete the sale.”

Bath-headquartered Royds Withy King also has offices in London, Oxford, Swindon and Marlborough.

Hartford Care was advised by Acuity Law, which has offices in Cardiff, Swansea, London and the UAE.
