Business leaders from across the South West are being invited to a major event in the region’s business calendar, the CBI’s annual regional dinner.
The event, which is traditionally a sell-out, is attended by more than 300 senior business figures from across the region – although it has not taken place for the past two years due to the pandemic. 
It is one of the few business gatherings that takes in the entire South West region from Wiltshire to Land’s End and, as a result, has attracted high-profile speakers over the years from the worlds of politics, media and finance.
This year’s dinner will be on 6 October at the Bristol City Centre Marriott Hotel and will hear from CBI commercial director, and former South West director, Deborah Fraser on the challenges and opportunities facing businesses, including the cost of living crisis and the need to spur business-led economic growth.
Filling the after-dinner speaking slot will be columnist and broadcaster Ayesha Hazarika, who is renowned for her insightful and witty observations on current affairs and politics. 
After beginning her career as a stand-up comic, Ayesha, pictured, moved into politics.
During a successful spell in Westminster she work for senior Labour figures Gordon Brown, Harriet Harman and Ed Miliband, advising them on Prime Minister’s Questions, speeches, media and policy, as well as heading initiatives for the party on topics such as women and equality.
CBI South West director Ben Rhodes said: “This event has long been a highlight of the South West calendar, and welcomes all business leaders, including CBI members and non-members alike.

The event – supported by UWE Bristol and Bristol Airport – features a three-course dinner with wine. Single ticket prices are £160 for CBI members or £210 for non-members.
