Curo, the Bath-based housing association, has appointed Liz Potter as a non-executive director and chair designate.

Liz Potter, pictured, is an experienced board chair, independent governance consultant and executive coach. She will take over as chair following Curo’s AGM later this month following which acting chair Dermot Courtier will revert to his post as a non-executive director.

Liz was chair of Coventry-based housing organisation Orbit up to 2013. She led it through a period of considerable change and growth – setting up a commercial development subsidiary, steering through a successful merger, and achieving top quartile customer satisfaction.

Orbit owns and manages 39,000 homes and has around 100,000 customers across the Midlands, the East and South East regions and parts of London.

She has also worked as director of policy for the National Housing Federation and regional manager of Nacro Housing.

She is currently a board member at Housing & Care 21 and Care & Repair England.

Liz has a strong strategic understanding of the housing and care and support sectors.

She said: “Curo has so much potential, demonstrating innovation and commitment to current and future customers. I am excited to be joining and looking forward to working with colleagues to release the organisation’s further potential.”

Curo chief executive Victor Da Cunha added: “We’re delighted to welcome Liz to the board.

“Her undoubted skills and experience will strengthen our strategic ability to navigate what will continue to be a complex and fast-moving business environment.

“We’re looking to the future, and working to maximise the opportunities to grow and to build more affordable homes for local people.”

Curo is a not-for-profit housing and support organisation providing affordable homes and high-quality care and support services across the West of England. It manages nearly 13,000 properties and builds hundreds of homes every year.
