Bath’s largest manufacturing firm is throwing open its doors to aspiring and professional photographers as part of a national competition organised by trade body EEF.
Rotork, which makes highly specialised flow control products for customers across the world in sectors ranging from oil and gas to pharmaceutical and chemical, is among a number of companies around the country taking part in the contest to capture the dynamism, talent and technology driving British industry.
The competition is free to enter and open to young, amateur and professional photographers. There are four categories – Next Generation, Future Technology, Manufacturing Process and Manufacturing Product.
Each category will have one winner from each of the following skill levels - best professional photographer, best photograph by an amateur photographer, and best photograph by a young photographer (under 20 on September 30, the deadline for entries).
Entries will be shortlisted by a panel of photography and industry experts with the winners, who will share a £5,000 prize fund, announced at an awards event in London in November.
The best photos will be exhibited to the public, at ministerial offices and EEF offices across the country, and displayed at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2018 Gala Dinner and EEF National Manufacturing Conference & Dinner 2019.
EEF South membership director Jim Davison said: “This competition shines a light on forward-looking and innovative companies,” “We are delighted that businesses are opening their doors to local photographers, who can tell the story of UK manufacturing success by capturing images of technology, people and innovation in industry.”
Photographers wishing to visit Rotork must first contact Caroline O’Neill at EEF (coneill@eef.org.uk). Photographers may make separate arrangements with other manufacturers if they prefer and employees should liaise with their employers for permission.
