Local charities offered the chance to raise their profile and fundraise for free at this year’s Christmas markets have only a few days left to apply for a prestigious, and free, chalet-style pitch.
Every year, one of the Christmas Market’s cosy wooden stalls is offered to a different Bath and North East Somerset charity on each of the 18 days of this popular event which will open on November 22.
This gives the chosen charities the chance to benefit from the generosity of 300,000-plus shoppers this major event brings to the city and Bath Tourism Plus have extended the application deadline to July 13 to give organisers a few more days to apply.
A range of large and small charities benefitted from a stall last December including Bath Mind, Time2Share, The Rotary Club of Bath, Bath City Farm and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sadie Moore, fundraising manager at Macmillan Cancer Support said: ‘We raised more than £300 from the day. The highlight was being part of such an iconic local event and it’s a great way to raise awareness of Bath charities.’
Event organiser Charlotte Buckley said: “Each year we offer the stall to local charities and we get really positive feedback from those who take up the opportunity.”
Chief executive of Bath Tourism Plus, Nick Brooks-Sykes added: “Bath is an extremely popular Christmas shopping destination, attracting people from all over the region and the UK.To be in the position to be able to offer a prime site in the city centre to 18 worthwhile causes, at a time of year synonymous with giving, is just wonderful.”
If you are interested in applying to man the stall during this year’s event, please contact Bath Tourism Plus: christmas_market@bathtourism.co.uk, 01225 322429 for an application form to be returned by this Friday’s deadline. All applications are added to a selection list and 18 charities are then chosen at random, given one day each for the run of the market between November 22 and December 9.
