Bath law firm Mogers Drewett has become the first headline sponsor of the city’s spectacularly popular Christmas Market.
The market, which this year runs from November 24 to December 11, is staged by Bath’s destination marketing organisation VisitBath.
It is the South West’s biggest shopping event with more than 170 wooden chalets lining streets and courtyards in the heart of the city.
Some 85% of the stallholders are from Bath or the surrounding region and 89% of their products are handmade. This year a quarter of the stallholder are new to the market.
Now in its 16th year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of people from the UK and overseas – last year a staggering 413,000 people visited the market. Mogers Drewett is its first major annual sponsor.
The firm’s head of marketing Louise Kelly, pictured, said: “At Mogers Drewett we value our local roots and the support of our local community.
“Our success as one of the region’s leading law firms enables us to be very active within the local community through our ‘responsible business’ initiative, the aim of which is to give something back to the communities in which we work.
“We are delighted to support the Bath Christmas Market, which is a great showcase for the city we are so proud to live and work in.”
Some 100 pairs of Mogers Drewett and Christmas market-branded ‘footprints in the snow’ will be scattered on pavements around the city directing visitors to the market while the firm will also be represented on this year’s judging panel for the best-dressed chalet competition.
VisitBath chief executive David James said: “VisitBath is delighted to be working in association with Mogers Drewett as our first major annual sponsor for the Bath Christmas Market.
“Mogers Drewett has long been a key supporter of Bath and the surrounding area and has invested heavily in the city and the locality for the overall good of the business and residential community.
“We are extremely pleased that Mogers Drewett is supporting our premier flagship event for the city, an event that does so much to enhance the economic prosperity and vibrancy of Bath and North East Somerset.”
Mogers Drewett was formed in 2014 from the merger of Mogers and Dyne Drewett. It also has offices in Wells, Frome and Sherborne and employs around 100 people.
