The Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) has bought Grade II listed 1 Trim Bridge from The Bath Institute of Rheumatic Diseases (BIRD) to use as its new head office.

The building, which was sold with vacant possession for £775,000, has just over 3,000 sq ft (280 sq m) of office space over four floors.

BIRD, a charity aiming to advance medical knowledge of rheumatic diseases and to improve patients’ treatment, has relocated to the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD) in nearby Upper Borough Walls. BCPC is currently based in Walcot Terrace, London Road.

Harry Allen of property agents Savills’ office agency team, which advised BIRD, said: “This is a fantastic result for our client and demonstrates the strong demand for small freehold offices in central Bath.

“The sale was concluded following a competitive bidding process between a mix of developers and office occupiers.”

BIRD became an independent charity in 1981 after being established by the RNHRD and the University of Bath six years earlier. It still works closely with both organisations along with a number of others. It raises funds to support research into bone and joint diseases and also provides educational sessions for health professionals, patients and their family and friends.

BCPC was unrepresented in the property deal.
