Bath’s Gainsborough Hotel has again teamed up with city-based Modern ArtBuyer and Rostra Gallery in a unique collaboration to showcase contemporary artworks from a selection of emerging and establishing artists.

The Contemporary Art Pop-Up Gallery next Friday and Saturday – November 8 and 9 – follows the success of the summer exhibition at the five-star Gainsborough.

In what is being described as a perfect opportunity to start Christmas shopping early for any art lovers, the carefully curated collection of prints, original paintings and sculptures will feature new works from local and national artists.

Limited edition prints by the renowned Sir Peter Blake, digital artist Chuck Elliott and collage artist Maria Rivans will be on show alongside work by established painters Paul Bennett, Elaine Jones and Jonathan Stewardson as well as abstract paintings by Kirsten Eades and distinctive works in paper by Helen Burgess.

The Gainsborough Bath Spa sees the pop-up events as a way of celebrating its artistic heritage – it is named after 18th-century Bath resident and celebrated artist Sir Thomas Gainsborough.

The 99-bedroom’s light and airy chapel will once again play host to this unique pop up with its beautiful tented ceiling and classic period architecture.

Modern ArtBuyer is a curated online gallery showcasing works from some of today’s most exciting and respected artists. Gallery director Jessica Lloyd-Smith also offers an art consultancy service to help clients source the perfect artwork for their space, choosing from a broad portfolio of personally selected, original and limited-edition artworks.

Founded in 1997 and now owned by Emma Birts, Rostra Gallery is dedicated to showing affordable, contemporary artworks to suit all budgets.

This is a free event and tickets can be reserved through Eventbrite.

The multi award-winning Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel opened three years ago and was the first UK hotel to be opened by YTL Hotels, part of the giant Malaysian YTL conglomerate that also owns Bath-based Wessex Water.
