Businesses across Bath and North East Somerset seeking to cut their carbon emissions and reduce their environmental impact are being urged to take part in a special webinar to find out about the support available.
The event will give details of measures they can take along with examples of the funding they can access.
The webinar staged by Bath & North East Somerset Council (B&NES) at noon on Thursday, March 18, will explain:
- Green Business Grants (carbon assessments and grants to help with costs of improving energy efficiency)
- Large roof solar schemes (BWCE’s Community Solar project seeking roof space)
- SME construction trade-specific opportunities (Future Proof)
- Sustainable transport support (Ranging from low carbon deliveries, Clean Air Zone support, help for employees and improving staff facilities)
- Related schemes on surplus food and business support.
Chaired by council leader Dine Romero, the webinar will hear a panel made up of B&NES joint cabinet member for climate emergency Cllr Sarah Warren, Marion Briton from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), Alex Lockton of Bath & West Community Energy and B&NES enterprise officer Rob Dawson.
Cllr Warren said: “Increasingly customers, clients and tenants expect businesses to demonstrate how they are working towards local and national environmental targets, but when you are running a busy business this can seem daunting and challenging, particularly now when many businesses are struggling with the impact of Covid-19.
“However, we all have a role to play in tackling the climate and ecological emergencies and steps taken to cut carbon emissions are about increasing business efficiency at the same time, whether that is updating equipment, using rooves to harness solar energy or using sustainable forms of transport for deliveries.
“As we focus on recovery there is an opportunity to make positive change. There is lots of help and financial support available and this webinar is designed to help businesses on their journey to becoming green and making a difference.”
The webinar discussion will be followed by a live Q&A. To take part, register and submit questions here.
The webinar will be live streamed and recorded for later viewing on the council’s YouTube channel.
