Bath-based business management consultancy Achieve Breakthrough has won one of the HR sector’s most prestigious awards for the second time.

Having landed the title of Consultancy of the Year in the 2013 CIPD People Management Awards, this year the consultancy became the outright winner of the CIPD Best HR/Learning & Development Consultancy of the Year Award.

The awards, which recognise outstanding and innovative achievements in people management and development, are staged by the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development, in partnership with People Management Magazine. They took place earlier this week at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

Achieve Breakthrough helps organisations raise their game through transformation programmes and culture change initiatives, unlocking the full potential of teams. Established by Mike Straw in 2003, today it has more than 30 consultants.

The consultancy now conducts two thirds of its work globally with some of the world’s biggest organisations across many industry sectors, including FMCG (PepsiCo, Diageo), pharmaceuticals (Novartis, AstraZeneca), financial services (Amex, Lloyds TSB), healthcare (NHS trusts) public sector (councils, TfL) and technology (Microsoft, Oracle).

Mike Straw said: “We have been providing global organisations with new ways of thinking and acting to deliver better business and people performance since our inception, so it’s a real honour to be awarded the CIPD Consultancy of the Year for the second time in just three years.

“This is the highest honour that we can receive from the professional body for HR and people development – and it illustrates the effectiveness of our transformational work for both domestic and global organisations.”

Supporting local communities and young talent has always been important to the consultancy. Achieve Breakthrough launched Inventing Futures in 2012, an organisation that provides young people with new ways of thinking and acting, shifting ambitions, mind sets and chosen behaviours to enable fulfilling lives. Achieve Breakthrough donates 20% of its profits to Inventing Futures each year so it can continue its work with local authorities, commissioning bodies, and educators – who are committed to fulfilling the potential of young people across the UK.
