Future, the Bath-based specialist media group, has made two new senior appointments in its recently created magazine division.
Future said the new division will bring a deeper focus to its magazines, developing the current market leading brands and providing a platform for further print innovation.
Matt Pierce becomes editorial director of Future's design, games and photography portfolios, while Paul Newman takes responsibility for the film, music and tech titles.
Matt Pierce has spent the past three years heading the content and marketing for Future’s photography and design portfolios, during which time both groups have enjoyed print market leadership and grown their audiences with new launches Professional Photography and Colour Calm.
The group also produces award-winning major annual events The Photography Show and the Generate Web Design Conference. Matt Pierce’s editorial background is in games, having been editor of PC Gamer, and group publisher of many brands including The Official PlayStation Magazine, Edge, GamesMaster and Gamesradar.com.
Paul Newman steps up from his previous role as group editor-in-chief of Future's technology group. With a product development track record spanning the design, sports, photography and technology sectors, he brings considerable experience of launching and redesigning magazines to the role, something he most recently demonstrated with 2015’s comprehensive and successful relaunch of gadget title T3.
Future Magazine division managing director Joe McEvoy said: “Matt and Paul are a formidable editorial leadership team, combining the strength of Future’s magazine heritage with a passion to innovate and grow. I am delighted to have them on my team and know they will be an important factor in our division's future success.”
