Pukka Herbs, the organic tea brand based near Bath, has renewed its long-running partnership with eco visitor experience Eden Project as part of its commitment to the ‘1% for the Planet’ initiative.
Since the partnership started in 2015, the Cornish attraction, pictured, has become the largest single independent retailer of Pukka teas worldwide, with more than 117,000 boxes sold.
Daily Pukka tea-tasting sessions take place every day as part of the free guided tours, meaning most of the 6m-plus visitors over the past nine years will have been exposed to the brand.
Visitors can also discover the stories behind the herbs and spices that give Pukka’s tea blends their distinctive taste, with many of these growing in the Eden Project’s iconic Rainforest Biome.
The attraction’s restaurants also stock a wide selection of Pukka varieties, contributing to the 2,000 cups of tea consumed there every day.
Pukka, which was founded in 2001, has always used 100% certified, organic and ethically sourced ingredients, with a health and wellness philosophy centred on benefitting people, plants and planet.
It was acquired by Domestos to Marmite consumer goods giant Unilever in 2017, shortly before relocating its head office from Bristol to 17,000 sq ft of refurbished space in the former Cadbury chocolate factory in Keynsham.
Under its commitment to give 1% of its sales to environmental and social projects, it has donated more than £5.4m to environmental and social causes since 2015.
Pukka said extending its partnership with he Eden Project symbolised their shared mission to “foster a deeper connection between people, nature, and the planet, with the ultimate goal of creating a happier and healthier world”.
As part of the continued partnership, Pukka will retain its position as the official herbal tea sponsor of the Eden Sessions, the venue’s live music series, pictured.
This year’sperformers will include Fatboy Slim, Crowded House, Rick Astley, The National, Paolo Nutini, Suede and Manic Street Preachers, Tom Grennan and JLS.
Pukka UK marketing lead Laure de Chaisemartin said: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with the Eden Project, which is a real beacon of environmental stewardship and innovation.
“Together, we aspire to inspire millions of individuals to deepen their connections with nature, empowering them to make conscious choices for themselves and our planet.”
Eden Sessions managing director Rita Broe said it was great that Pukka will now sponsor the Eden Sessions for the second year running.
“Pukka and Eden share a passion for inspiring people to take positive action for the planet, and our jointly developed on-site exhibits really bring to life the stories of plants which grow in our biomes and are used in Pukka’s herbal teas,” she said.
“Here at Eden, we are storytellers, and Pukka demonstrates ‘herbal wonder’ – so it’s a great combination which our visitors love hearing about.’’
1% for the Planet was launched in 2002 and has since become a network of more than 2,000 environmentally conscious companies and thousands of non-profit partners across 60-plus countries.
The global initiative is calling for businesses, non-profit organisations and individuals to join forces for a stable climate, better use of land, sustainable food production, reduced pollution, cleaner water and thriving wildlife.
