Bath law firm Stone King has appointed independent schools expert John Clarke as a partner in its rapidly-expanding education sector team, which acts for more than 500 educational organisations across the UK.
John, pictured, was previously senior partner and headed the education and employment teams at Cheltenham-based education specialists Rickerbys and more recently has been a partner at Bristol-based Bevan Brittan.
He has earned a national reputation in advising education clients, in particular independent schools and universities, on all aspects of governance, charity law, pupil and staff issues, and employment disputes.
He also has a wealth of experience acting for private companies and owner-managed businesses, advising them on all areas of employment law including working time and employment disputes. John writes and lectures widely on education and employment issues.
Stone King’s managing partner Steven Greenwood said: “We are delighted to welcome John to the firm at a time of growing demand for our specialist education law services.”
The firm’s head of education Roger Inman said: “John’s profound knowledge of independent schools, and his recognition as one of the few genuine experts in that field, will greatly complement and strengthen the growing work that we are doing for schools of all kinds.”
