Bath’s burgeoning low carbon sector has attracted commercial energy efficiency consultancy BSSEC to the city

The firm, which has relocated from Westbury, has taken space at Pierrepont Street in the city centre from where it will build on its reputation for commercial energy auditing, technical implementation, internal change management and ongoing verification of savings.

BSSEC (Building Services Sustainability & Environmental Consultancy) was founded in 2005 by chairman Paul Bennett.

As a chartered engineer Paul recognised the value that good energy efficiency advice could deliver and set up BSSEC to help businesses identify and implement energy saving measures.

Its first client was Carbon Trust. BSSEC gave it design advice for new buildings, delivered commercial energy audits and managed technical implementation of energy saving projects.

Paul now runs the business with managing director Wayne Ward. Between them they have more than 30 years’ experience in energy savings and sustainability.

The company has a core team of 10 consultants working with commercial and industrial companies across a variety of sectors in the UK and Europe. The team includes accredited Carbon Trust assessors, ESOS lead assessors and expert witnesses.

Paul said: “We are already working with partners in the city and hope to collaborate with many more like-minded organisations in the future.

“We are also looking to build a relationship with the University of Bath in terms of employing local skills and contributing to their environmental management programme. On top of all this, Bath is beautiful city with good transport links for visiting clients. We are delighted to be here.”
