Mogers Drewett, the regional law firm with offices in Bath, Wells, Frome and Sherborne, has appointed medal-winning England netball defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers as a legal assistant in its dispute resolution team.
Eboni, pictured, who played a key role in the team’s bronze medal finish at the 2015 Netball World Cup, has successfully established the beginnings of a law career in parallel with sustaining an impressive professional netball career.
She has earned 70 senior international caps and won the Player of the Series award in England’s historic first series victory over Australia in 2013. She had previously captained the England U21 team at the Youth World Championships in 2009.
Eboni returned to Team Bath Netball in September for the 2016 Vitality Netball Superleague season.
Mogers Drewett dispute resolution partner Maeve England said: “We are pleased to have Eboni join the team where she will assist me, [dispute resolution solicitor] Terry McDermott and the wider team in this very busy part of the business.
“Eboni has a very promising legal career ahead of her, and the fact that she has managed to balance this with her outstanding athletics career shows just what a focussed and capable woman she is.”
In her new role at Mogers Drewett Eboni assists with legal research and elementary drafting of legal forms and documents, as well as liaising with the court, counsel and clients.”
Before returning to Bath, Eboni Beckford-Chambers worked as a part-time legal assistant at Netball South Australia where she redrafted the State League Netball Competition legal rules for the 2016 season, and also drafted the standard player contract that will be implemented in the 2016 season.
She said: “On returning to Bath to join Team Bath Netball I quickly recognised that Mogers Drewett is the leading legal firm in the region, so I am delighted to have joined a practice where I can further my legal career whilst continuing to strive for yet more success on the netball court.”
