A year of fundraising at estate agency and lettings group Andrews – including staging special Halloween and Valentine’s Day events – raised nearly £20,000 for an international charity providing support for carers.
The entire 500 strong staff of Keynsham-headquartered Andrews supported the efforts – with its network of 50 branches and head offices taking part in two days of dedicated on last year’s Halloween and Valentine’s Day earlier this year.
Staff members Louise McTighe and Daryl Hill also completed the London Marathon in April this year, raising £2,400, while Andrews group CEO David Westgate led by example by completing the 100-mile Ride London bike challenge through London and Surrey in August.
Andrews has been working with Carers Worldwide since 2012, alongside its main shareholder Andrews Charitable Trust.
Carers Worldwide develops and promotes cost effective and sustainable methods of providing support to carers in low and middle-income countries.
A celebratory event was held at Andrews’ Bath Central branch to recognise the staff’s fundraising efforts over the past year as well as the significant impact that this funding will have on carers supported by Carers Worldwide.
David Westgate said: “We’ve been working with Carers Worldwide since it was set up with funding and support of Andrews Charitable Trust.
“We are honoured to be Carers Worldwide’s first corporate partnership and pleased that everyone in the company has gotten behind this partnership with such enthusiasm. Each and every individual in the company has helped to raise money for Carers Worldwide.”
Carers Worldwide founder and executive director Anil Patil added: “Our partnership with Andrews Property Group has been our first experience of a corporate partnership and it has been a wonderful year.
“The amount raised by the staff will make a significant difference to the lives of family carers in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such a compassionate and caring company and we look forward to many more such fruitful partnerships in the future.”
This project with Carers Worldwide is one of many charitable projects Andrews works on alongside the Andrews Charitable Trust.
Andrews founder Cecil Jackson Cole structured the business when he set it up in 1946 it to share a minimum of 35% of its profits each year with two charitable trusts that, ultimately, own it. Cecil Jackson Cole also founded Oxfam and Help the Aged.
