A charity fundraising challenge has been set up in memory of Dave Mouncey, a past chair of professional body the ICAEW in the West of England.
Dave, pictured, who was a well-known and respected figure in the region’s business scene, died suddenly last December aged 63.
A partner in in the Bristol office of Evelyn Partners, he was an avid runner and had competed in several of the world’s top marathons, including the so-called Big 6 – London, Berlin, Tokyo, Boston, Chicago and New York.
Evelyn Partners Bristol office staff are now aiming to walk, run, cycle, dance and swim a total of 63,000km in his memory to raise funds for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal, their chosen charity for this year.
Helen Bassett, the newly-appointed regional managing partner of Evelyn Partners' Bristol professional services practice, said: “We wanted to celebrate Dave’s inspiringly active zest for life with an office-wide activity challenge.
“Dave’s family were also looking for a charity to support in his memory and we suggested the Grand Appeal, which is our charity of the year.
“Our 63,000km challenge is a fitting way to remember Dave and raise much-needed funds for a great cause.”
The official charity of the Bristol Children’s Hospital, The Grand Appeal is the latest good cause to benefit from the office’s fundraising efforts.
Hailing originally from Romford, Dave trained at Arthur Andersen and joined Solomon Hare in Bristol in 1993.
He remained with the firm through its evolution, first as Smith & Williamson and then more recently as Evelyn Partners, serving for several years as a partner in the tax team.
