Rural broadband provider TrueSpeed has appointed Paul Burridge as chief financial officer as it continues to accelerate its expansion ambitions.

Paul, pictured, has wide experience in scaling high-growth businesses and joins the Bath-based firm with more than two decades of experience in senior finance roles, from start-ups to major blue chips.

He previously worked at Bath-based tech business MyLife Digital where, as CFO, he was part of the senior leadership team driving its growth strategy.

Before that he spent a year as finance director at West Country Vending in Peasedown St John, where he worked closely with the owner and board on the successful sale of the business.

He began his career in finance more than 25 years ago, training as a chartered accountant with EY.

Since then he has held senior finance roles in a wide range of businesses, including Bristol-based software and services provider Tribal Group, Bath communications agency SHIFT Active Media and commercial law firm DAC Beachcroft.

Paul said: “Having lived and worked in the South West for all of my professional career, I jumped at the opportunity to join the executive team of this fantastic local business with such a strong community ethos at its core.

“My focus will be on providing financial and commercial leadership that will help to drive the business to the next level.”
Truespeed CEO Evan Wienburg added: “Paul’s impressive track record in helping to run high-growth businesses providing robust financial and operational support mark him out as the ideal CFO.

“His experience and expertise will be a huge asset as we accelerate our growth and connect more households and businesses in the South West to our award-winning full fibre broadband service.”

Truespeed said Paul’s arrival came at a critical juncture for the firm as ploughs on with the roll-out of its ultrafast full fibre infrastructure across the South West. It follows last month’s appointment of Henry West as commercial director tasked with evolving its direct business sales strategy and developing plans for a wholesale offering, including appointing IT resellers and other service providers.

TrueSpeed was launched five years ago by three investors fed up with poor broadband in their homes.

It has since built new infrastructure that enables it to deliver 10 gigabit-capable full fibre broadband directly into premises, providing a high-performance, highly reliable connection, and future-proofed connectivity.
