Interaction, the Bath-based strategic workplace design and build company, has recruited Richard Saunders as contracts director to lead its team of contracts and site managers.
An expert in major works projects, Richard, pictured, has overseen developments of up to £20m and won the 2019 CIJ Hungary award for ‘Best Fit Out Project’ for his work with Jaguar Land Rover in Budapest.
He joins Interaction from Collins Construction in London, where he worked as a senior project manager. He has also worked for construction group ISG and workplace design and fit-out firm Area.
A chartered senior construction project manager and member of the Chartered Institute of Building, he brings a wealth of experience in contract administration to Interaction, including negotiations and tenders, and is an active member of various client steering committees and regional development groups.
He will oversee the continuous professional development and upskilling of all Interaction’s site teams, building on its drive to ensure all site staff obtain NVQ-level certification.
Interaction managing director Dieter Wood said: “Richard is an enthusiastic, ambitious, results driven individual with more than 23 years’ experience in the construction industry.
“He’s a strong leader, people manager and problem solver with great commercial awareness and a proven track record in delivering large complex schemes.
“He has a broad range of experience across different sectors both in the UK and beyond into mainland Europe and is passionate about doing his part to improve standards across the construction industry.”
Richard said: “Interaction has a unique, vibrant culture and a real passion for what it does, very much focussed on people – its own staff and those that end up using the fantastic spaces they design and build. I’m thrilled to be on board to help drive the next phase of Interaction’s success.”
Richard’s appointment coincides with Interaction receiving planning permission for a new cutting-edge office development in Edgar Mews, opposite its current Bartlett Street base.
The project involves renovating an old gin distillery building into a flexible workspace which can serve up to 70 staff, making it one of the largest new offices in the area.
Privately owned Interaction has been creating workplaces for ambitious businesses across the South West for 29 years.
Recent projects include GKN Aerospace’s global technology centre in Filton, Bristol, and cloud accounting firm Xledger’s new office, also in Bristol. Its work in Bath includes projects for sex toy retailer Lovehoney and gift design firm Wild & Wolf.
