Bath-based fast-growing solicitors’ chambers Rubric has appointed experienced family lawyer Magnus Mill. A highly-regarded family law specialist, Magnus will head a new family law serving clients across the South West.
He will also continue to offer family law advice in London, where he is heading the firm’s new office in Fetter Lane.
Prior to joining Rubric, Magnus, pictured, was a partner at Manches, a top-ranked London family law firm, where he headed a team specialising in a wide variety of family law issues often including substantial assets, offshore asset-holding structures and/or an international element.
A University of Bristol graduate, Magnus has been “recommended” and described as “excellent” in the legal sector guide, Legal 500. His appointment follows the recent arrival of experienced commercial lawyer Candace Kendall.
Rubric offers City-quality advice via a streamlined business model using modern technology and outsourced support functions. It also shuns the traditional law firm hierarchy in favour of a team of experienced lawyers who can work flexibly.
Magnus said: “Rubric’s innovative approach to delivering legal services is a very attractive proposition. We are able to offer a top-level specialist family law service for high net worth clients at costs which are considerably lower than those which they would be asked to pay elsewhere.”
Rubric founder James Howell said Rubric operates like a barristers’ chambers, with a group of senior, multi-specialist lawyers pooling their resources, as opposed to the conventional ‘pyramid’-structured law firm.
“Magnus’ appointment means that we can simultaneously bring a partner-level family lawyer with substantial City experience to Bath and the South West, as well as widen our offering to the London market,” he said.
“There is a growing demand for Rubric’s offering of the best legal advice delivered in the most cost efficient manner. We achieve this by removing many of the overheads which make traditional law firms expensive and instead using technology and outsourced functions.
“Our low overhead business model, coupled with our highly trained lawyers, gives us a real market advantage and makes us an excellent value for money. That Magnus and Candace have decided to join Rubric reflects the positive impression the firm is making on the legal market.”
