Specialist property firm Rengen has extended for a further three years its partnership with Team Bath, which encompasses the University of Bath’s sport and fitness activities.
The firm, which specialises in student, residential and commercial developments and lettings, has been an official partner of Team Bath since 2019.
During that time it has supported Team Bath’s activities at all levels – from recreational and youth sport to student clubs and high-performance athletes.
Its backing also helped Team Bath’s fitness coaches deliver online classes during the Covid pandemic, providing the wider community with ways to stay active during lockdown.
Rengen – which has been behind some of Bath’s recent high-profile redevelopments -provides additional support through the partnership for Team Bath’s Netball SuperLeague squad and the university’s BUCS Super Rugby performance programme.
The latter has particular significance for Rengen CEO and former Bath Rugby player and Welsh international Iestyn Lewis, pictured, above left, with University of Bath director of sport Stephen Baddeley.
He is a University of Bath alumni who played for its men’s 1st XV while a Structural Engineering student and sporting scholar before going on to coach them for several years.
Iestyn said he was delighted the firm would be working with Team Bath for another three years.
“My personal relationship with the University of Bath goes back three decades and I have extensive first-hand experience of the positive impact provided by its sport and fitness offering,” he added.
“We are proud, as a company, to be playing our part in facilitating an environment at the Team Bath sports training village, which supports everyone – from children developing a love for sport to students pursuing their athletic and academic goals, members of the local community enjoying a fit and active lifestyle to Olympic and Paralympic champions.”
University of Bath director of sport Stephen Baddeley said: “We are excited to be continuing our partnership with Rengen.
“We have an excellent relationship with Iestyn and his team, and their support has been invaluable during the unique challenges we have faced during the past four years.
“We are proud of the sporting and fitness opportunities we offer but we are always looking to improve. We have exciting plans for the next few years and Rengen’s ongoing backing will help us continue to grow and innovate.”
Rengen is a subsidiary of Bristol-based multi-disciplinary property consultancy Iesis, which was started by Iestyn Lewis.
It has worked on a wide range of development sectors, including residential, student, leisure, hospitality and commercial property since its launch in 2007.
Its Bath schemes include transforming the city’s former Labour Exchange building on James Street West into a mixed-use scheme with 78 student rooms over three new floors and 4,000 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.
It also redeveloped a former retail site on Pulteney Bridge into Rengen House, creating not only a base for its development team in the city but a boutique co-working space with meeting rooms.
It is also active in Bristol, where its schemes include the final phase of the city’s Paintworks creative quarter, as well as projects in Cardiff, Worcester and Southampton.
Last year it recruited former Bath and England rugby player John Hall as strategic investment advisor to assist with its growth.
Team Bath, the brand name for the University of Bath’s sports activities and services, has at its heart the £35m sports training village on the university’s campus, which includes a spacious Team Bath gym and fitness centre, Olympic-standard swimming pool, pictured above, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and athletics tracks, a judo dojo and a multi-purpose sports hall, all of which are open to the public.
