Mark Seager, a specialist rural accountant with 10 years’ experience on farming accountants, has joined West accountants and financial planners Old Mill.

Mark, pictured, will be working mainly from Old Mill’s Wells office alongside Neil Cox and Mike Butler, where his invaluable experience will help bolster the young rural team.

Mark started his career with Taunton practice Albert Goodman in 2004. During his seven years with the firm he gained his ACCA before going on to become an assistant manager at Milsted Langdon.

Mark, who also has a degree in agriculture, is from a family of farmers and lives on the family’s farm, in Pylle.

Mark said: “Coming from a farming family gives me first-hand knowledge of the sector and therefore a unique insight into what our clients want and need.

“This, combined with a decade of experience working on rural accountants, means I will be able offer my clients a truly valuable service.

“I am looking forward to the extra responsibility of being a manager, the variety of clients in the portfolio and the chance to do some higher end tax planning. I am also looking to progress my career here, and am confident that Old Mill will support me in that.”

Head of Old Mill’s rural team in Wells, Neil Cox, added: “At Old Mill we are always looking for accountants with genuine agricultural knowledge and together with his accounting experience he is already proving to be an excellent fit.”

Old Mill employs 70 staff on farming accounts across its offices in Wells, Melksham, Yeovil, Exeter, and Dorchester.
