Tickets for Bath in Fashion 2012 are selling strongly with just over a month to the prestigious week-long event.

Sarah Mansfield, Chair of Bath in Fashion and director of Milsom Place, said: “Bath in Fashion 2012 offers something for everyone. We have a whole range of inspirational fashion events and talks with an impressive line up of speakers.”

Catwalk shows will be staged in the Guildhall and Assembly Rooms showcasing the best of spring/summer ’12 fashions from Bath stores and Amanda Wakeley is guest designer, bringing her show directly from London Fashion Week.

Bath in Fashion is staged by the Bath Business Improvement District (BID) to build awareness of the city as a thriving shopping destination.

Bath BID manager Andrew Cooper said: “We are very grateful that so many businesses are getting behind this opportunity.” Bath in Fashion is supported by Bath and North East Somerset Council and more than 100 businesses are backing it, either as sponsors or by organising their own in-store event or promotion while others are taking part in the Bath in Fashion catwalk shows to showcase their spring/summer fashions.

Sponsors including Banana Republic, Mallory, Milsom Place, SouthGate, Circle Bath, Juice Recruitment, Thrings, Bath Audi, Andrews, Artizan, Great Western Wine and Fabulous.

Lead sponsor Banana Republic will mark the first anniversary of the opening of its Bath store through its association with Bath in Fashion 2012.

Among guest celebrities from the world of fashion taking part in Bath in Fashion 2012 are Bath resident Manolo Blahnik, the world’s most-respected shoe designer, who will be in conversation with Iain R Webb, another famous Bath resident who now lectures at Central St Martins and has been a long-time fashion journalist and commentator.

A retrospective by milliner Stephen Jones at the Holburne will be a big draw; his previous exhibition at the V&A was widely acclaimed.

He will be talking about his life and work with Sarah Mower, MBE who was born and raised in Bath and now contributes to American Vogue.

As the Ambassador for Emerging Talent for the British Fashion Council, Sarah will be introducing a panel discussion titled Fashion Your Future for young people keen to join the industry.

Barbara Hulanicki, who created the iconic Biba brand, will be flying in from Miami to introduce a screening of the film Beyond Biba at the Little Theatre Cinema and will be in conversation with another Bath celebrity from the world of fashion, Deidre McSharry, former editor of Cosmopolitan.

The week culminates with Vintage Sunday on April 1 with a Bath VA Vintage Fashion Fair and Secret Tea Party at Green Park Station with best dressed outfit chosen by Pearl Lowe.

Tickets can be booked through the festival’s website; bathinfashion.co.uk or in person at the Tourist Information Centre next to the Abbey.
