Northern Lights Fireworks, the Trowbridge-based pyrotechnic display company, is hoping its name will go up in lights next week when it competes in the British Firework Championships.
Staged over two evenings next Tuesday and Wednesday, the event will involve six of the UK’s leading firework display teams battling it out over the seafront area of Plymouth Hoe.
An estimated half a tonne of explosives will light up the sky during each display. Northern Lights will compete on Tuesday against firms from Berkshire and Cheshire while on Wednesday display companies from Hertfordshire, County Durham and Northamptonshire will do battle.
This year’s event, which is expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators, will support Parkinson’s UK in the South West. The British Firework Championships were started in 1997 by The Event Services Association (TESA), a trade body representing the outdoor events industry in the UK.
Northern Lights Fireworks has staged professional fireworks displays across the country since it was launched in 1995. It also has a shop licensed to sell fireworks all year round.
It is the only fireworks company to have won both the British Fireworks Championship in 1998 and the British Musical Fireworks Championship in both 2000 and 2001.
