Regional accountancy group Bishop Fleming, law firm Royds Withy King and automotive learning and development agency RTS Group are celebrating being included in national rankings of the best businesses to work for.

Bishop Fleming, which runs Bath’s largest accountancy office, appears at number 26 in the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For list – making it the highest-placed professional services firm in the South West.

It is the third consecutive year the firm, which has six other offices across the South West and Midlands, has appeared in the table. In its first year it ranked at 49 and last year moved up to 42.

Royds Withy King, which slips down the table from 30th place to 62, employs 480 staff, more than half of them in its two Bath offices. It also has bases in London, Oxford and Wiltshire

RTS, based at Notton, near Chippenham, appears in the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to work for list for the first time while Bath-headquartered Royds Withy King appears in the Best Mid-Size Company list for the fifth year running.

Bishop Fleming’s rise up the list this year follows a coveted three-star accreditation in the annual Best Companies survey, one more than 2017. This rating reflects its ‘extraordinary’ levels of workplace engagement and represents organisations that truly excel.

Bishop Fleming chair Ian Smith, pictured, said: “Our 16-place rise is fantastic news for the firm and is a clear reflection of the hard work that we put in to making sure our business remains a great place to work.

“We are committed to recruiting the best people and then helping them to grow and this is reflected in our continuous improvement up the rankings over the last three years.

“The fact that the Sunday Times top ranking reflects what our own people think of us as an employer is one of the accolades I am most proud of. Nearly 90% of our people participated in the survey – a fantastic level of engagement.”

The Sunday Times rates the firm as an ‘outstanding’ employer, with a clear commitment to workplace engagement and with the determination to strive for continuous improvement. The accreditation is based on employee feedback and acknowledges those employers that regard people development as a key element of their success.

RTS, which debuts at number 80 on the small firms list, has also achieved the maximum three-star accreditation, one more than its two stars status of the previous two years, when it first applied for the scheme.

To join the list, organisations must employ at least 50 full-time employees and achieve one of the 100 highest scores in the category.

RTS managing director Malcolm Miller, pictured with finance director Alison Noble, said; “We are absolutely delighted, first to have achieved the three-stars accreditation for the first time and also to have made it into the top 100.

“The results show we have a really great level of engagement among our fantastic team. We are in the business of developing people for the automotive sector, so it is a great endorsement that we are clearly doing a good job with our own team.

“This places RTS Group among the highest, based on being a great place to work along with some wonderful clients and a clear understanding of our mission.”

The firm, founded in 1989, works with automotive manufacturers and vehicle retailers to develop dealership staff.
